Building or Refining Your Template

Whether you started from scratch or created a template from an existing deck, you'll now be in the regular Beautiful.ai editor, where building a template works exactly like building any deck. Lay out your slides in the order your team will present them: title slide, agenda, section dividers, content slides, closing slide.

The difference between a template and a normal deck is how you fill it. A template is a starting point, so design it to be filled in:

  • Use placeholder content that shows the intended structure ("Key Metric #1", "Customer Quote Goes Here", "[Client Name]").
  • Keep the slides that should stay consistent (intro, agenda format, closing/CTA) fully built so your team doesn't have to think about them.
  • Leave the slides that change every time (the data, the story) as clean, easy-to-edit Smart Slides.

When the template looks right, you're ready to publish it. Your work auto-saves as you go.

TIP: Design for the least-confident person on your team. The best templates aren't just on-brand, they're self-explanatory. Use slide titles and placeholder text that tell someone exactly what goes where, so a brand new hire could open the template and know what to do without asking.
