Why Team Templates Matter
A Team Template is a full, pre-built deck your team can launch with a single click: a pitch deck, a QBR, a board update, a client proposal, a weekly standup. Every slide, every section divider, every chart layout is already in place, already on-brand, already in the right order. When a team member starts from one, all they do is swap in their content. The structure and the design are done.
Without templates, every person on your team rebuilds the same deck over and over. They duplicate an old presentation, strip out last quarter's numbers, fix the slides that drifted off-brand, and hope they started from the right version. With templates, that entire ritual disappears. One source of truth, always current, always on-brand, ready in seconds. If you catch yourself thinking "people can probably just copy the old one," that's exactly the deck that should become a template instead. The goal is that nobody on your team ever starts from a blank slide or a duplicated deck again.
Before You Begin
Two quick checks before you start building.
The right role: Only Owners and Librarians can create and publish Team Templates. To verify:
Open your Library.
If you see 'Team Templates' as an option under 'Team Resources' on the left-side panel , you're good. If you don't, you'll need an Owner to change your role first.
Theme first, templates second: If you haven't finished your Team Theme yet, do that before you build templates. Every template you create inherits its colors, fonts, logo, and decoration from a theme, so building templates on a half-finished theme means redoing them later.
Sketch your template list before you build anything. Spend five minutes listing the decks your team builds repeatedly. Pull from what you actually see: the recurring meetings, the customer-facing decks, the internal reports. That list becomes your build queue, and it keeps you from stopping after one or two templates when your team really needs eight. You don't have to build them all in one sitting, but having the list means you'll know what "done" looks like.
What Your Team Will See
When a team member clicks 'New Presentation' in their Library, they choose 'Start From>Templates', and they see the library you just built:
- All Team templates at the top, with the same FOLDERS you created on the admin side, plus the ALL CONTENT and ALL TAGS filters.
- They double click the template they wish to use and a fresh copy opens in the editor-fully on-brand and ready for their content.
Two things worth knowing: team members only ever see published templates (drafts stay hidden), and they get a copy, so they can edit freely without ever touching your master template.
