Slide Navigation Panel

See your whole story while you edit. Keep your current slide front and center while skimming thumbnails on the left—browse, add, delete, and drag-to-reorder without ever leaving the editor. Collapse or resize the navigator any time. And when you need the big picture, Grid View is still right there.

What you can do

  • Browse: Scroll through every slide while staying on the one you’re editing.

  • Reorder: Drag and drop to reorganize your deck on the fly.

  • Add/Delete: Insert new slides or remove extras without breaking flow.

  • Resize/Collapse: Make the strip wider, slimmer, or hide it altogether.

Reorder

  • Drag and drop thumbnails to reorganize your deck on the fly.

  • Use the position “ghost” to see exactly where the slide will land.

Pro tip: Make small structural tweaks without leaving the slide you’re working on.

Add / Delete

  • Add: Click + Add Slide in the navigator to insert a new slide at the selected spot.

  • Delete: Right-click (or use the overflow menu) on a thumbnail to delete it.

  • Duplicate: Quickly clone a slide via right-click/overflow for variations.

Resize / Collapse

  • Hover the edge of the navigator, then drag to make it wider or slimmer.

  • Click the collapse icon (or press Space) to hide/show it.

Grid View (Big Picture)

  • Click Grid View at the bottom-left to see a full matrix of slides.

  • Great for large moves (multi-select, bulk delete, section reshuffles).

  • Exit Grid View to return to focused editing with the Slide Navigator

Shortcuts & tips

  • Space: Toggle Slide Navigator open/closed

  • Drag + scroll: Reorder across long decks smoothly

  • Multi-select in Grid View: Shift-click or Cmd/Ctrl-click for bulk actions

  • Need more canvas? Collapse the navigator for maximum slide space

FAQ

Can I turn the Slide Navigator off by default?
Your last state is remembered. If you collapse it, we’ll keep it collapsed next time on that device.

Is Grid View replacing the Slide Navigator?
No. Grid View is for the “big picture” and bulk actions; the Slide Navigator is for quick, in-flow editing.

Where did “Add Slide” go?
It’s still in the Slide Navigator. You can also add slides from the editor canvas and other menus.

Troubleshooting

I don’t see the Slide Navigator. Where is it?

  • Click on the collapse icon (>) at the top left side of the screen to open the Slide Navigator

  • Press Space to toggle it.

  • hi!

First of all, thank you.  This new layout fixes a lot of annoying things about the old one.  It took me quite some time to figure out how to move around and even then, it was not great.  this is way better.  I was worried you would have needed to change too much and I would be back to being lost again, but nope, nailed it.

i have a small, but super annoying problem and im not even sure which route to take to fix it.  i use a apple magic mouse which has touch-to-scroll on it which in general for me has been the best mix of the touchpad and a traditional mouse.  until….. i use beautiful.ai.  i am constantly accidently scrolling slides when I am trying to move around the page.  i do have big fingers and poor coordination but even still, now switch the mouse when i need to spend extended periods of time with b.ai to keep my sanity.

any suggestions? i dont' see any place that has fine grained control to be able to change the behaviour of the scroll wheel but my gut is telling me there is something I can do, i am just not thinking about it properly.

  • Thanks for sharing this. The explanation of how the Slide Navigation Pane works is clear and easy to follow. I didn’t realize how much you can do from that little sidebar — especially dragging slides around and jumping between sections without losing your place.

A small thing that might help new users is a quick screenshot or short clip showing how the pane opens and collapses, but overall the guide does a good job of showing what the feature can do.

  • This update is super handy, Fatima! 🙌 The new Slide Navigator makes editing so much smoother — being able to reorder and add slides without leaving the main view saves a ton of time. I also love that it remembers the last collapsed state. Great balance between flexibility and focus! 💡

  • Thanks fo the detailed breakdown of the Slide Navigation Pane! I love how it lets you stay focused on the current slide while easily browsing thumbnails. The drag-and-drop reorder and add/delete features are super handy, and being able to resize or collapse the navigator gives much-needed flexibility for different workflows.

Grid View is also a nice touch for seeing the whole presentation at once, especially for bulk edits. The shortcuts like Space to toggle and multi-select in Grid View make navigation smooth. Really makes managing large decks a lot easier without losing focu.s.
