Understanding and Using Callouts

Callouts allow you to add additional items to your slide for more flexibility and customization—without the design rules of our more traditional Smart Templates.   

Callouts can be found under the Layout tab of the properties panel:

How To Add a Callout

  1. Click on the 'Layout' tab on the Properties Panel to the right
  2. Scroll to the bottom and find the 'Add Callouts' section. You can click on 'Show More' to see all of the Callouts available.
  3. Click and drag the element of your choice onto your slide. There are no restrictions to the number of Callouts that can be added to your slide—but we caution you to use this sparingly as they are designed to be supplement to your slide.

Callout Types:

  • Text: Text without any border/shape
  • Box: A textbox with a square border
  • Bullet: A single Bullet
  • Icon & Text: An image/icon widget with text
  • Circle: A textbox with a circle border
  • Numbered: A single Number
  • Image/icon: Image or Icon widget
  • Arrow: A customizable line/arrow

Resizing Your Callout

Click and drag the 'Resizers' of the selected callout

Changing Your Callout Type

To change your callout type:

  1. Click on the 'Callout' drop down to open it's property options on the left. 
  2. Under 'Type', the list of all of the callout options will appear. 
  3. Select from the list. Your image or text will be retained automatically.

Changing the Media Frame

To change the frame of the image or Icon:

  1. Click the 'Callout' drop down.
  2. Then select Media Frame. 
  3. From there, select the shape or device frame of your choice.

Changing the Color

To change the color of your callout:

  1. Click on the 'Callout' drop down menu.
  2. Then click on the color circle next to 'Color'. 
  3. You will be given a color menu based on the current theme colors associated with your presentation.

Changing the Shape Style

To change the shape style of your callout:

  1. Click on the 'Callout' drop down menu.
  2. Click on the color circle next to 'Color'. 
  3. Select from the Style list under the color options.

  • Outline: An outline of the selected shape, no fill
  • Muted: Shape with muted color fill
  • Filled: Filled in color, no outline
  • Fill & Stroke: An outline with a muted fill

Adjusting Media Scale

To adjust the size of the shape:

  1. Click on the 'Callout' drop down menu. 
  2. Then move the sizer next to 'Media Scale' to size your shape up and down. 
  3. Note that this is only available for callout types that include an image or an icon.

Adjusting Text Position

To adjust the text position:

  1. Click on the 'Callout' drop down menu. 
  2. Then click on the drop down menu next to 'Text Position'. This gives you the ability to move your text around the image or icon. 
  3. Please note that this is only available for callout types that include an image or an icon.
